Hubble Telescope in orbit around the Earth, we have seen farther away into the universe than ever before. The current understanding based on observation is that the galaxies that are the farthest away are about 13.8 billion light years from us. That means the universe is just under 14 billion years old in every direction.
However, this could just be our horizon. What I mean is, like a ship moving on the ocean has a view that is limited to a few miles, that visible boundary moves with the ship. When we look into space, we only see the light photons that have traveled to us. There could be objects farther away that have not had time to reach our view yet. Just as our earth is hurtling through space, our visible boundary could be moving with us.
